So, after everybody saw the insane Mario Balotelli stamp on Scott Parker’s face early today (below)

I felt it was only right to write a blog post about him, is he majestic or just mental.

Balotelli is a prolific goal scorer, one of the best in the world. However, he never celebrates his goals in the fashion we have become used to. He says: “why should I celebrate goals, if I’m paid to do it” something that a few other footballers should take good note of.

However, the attitude and temperament of Mario Balotelli on the field is equaled by his behavior off the field. Mario unfortunately does not look after himself in public or in private. He set fire to his house in Manchester with fireworks whilst drunk, has been banned from driving and is commonly seen out with some of the most beautiful and notorious women from Italy, including porn actresses. He has been known to sleep just two hours and then score two goals the following day. He allegedly did this the night before the Man City victory over Man Utd 6-1 at Old Trafford.

Considering that he was lucky to survive as a baby, and everything else that Mario Balotelli has been through in life, it is unsurprising he finds being a millionaire difficult. The only drawback is that he is also a professional sportsman. Clubs today demand that players are also ambassadors and represent both the game and the club they play for. They are role models – and appearing in the tabloids after drunken ‘mistakes’ isn’t what the PR of clubs appreciates.

Mario Balotelli once said that only Messi was better than him but unfortunately for him, Messi is streets ahead, because not only is Leonel Messi probably the best player on the pitch, he is a fine example off the field: perfect for both the manger of his club and the PR and marketing department

Below are some of his mistakes so far in his career:

“My Whole Season Has Been Shit”

While most players/managers tend to umm and ahh their way through post-match interviews following bad performances, Balotelli goes for the bluntly honest approach and puts his interviewer in an awkward position in the process. After a good game against Stoke in the FA Cup final, Super Mario is asked whether he felt his performance was his best of the season. His response? “My whole season has been shit”. Thanks, Mario; now over to Caroline with today’s weather.

Allergic to Grass

Balotelli retreated to the changing rooms in a Europa League game last season, admitting defeat to his one true weakness: grass.

Now I know what you’re thinking: considering his profession, Balotelli being allergic to grass is the equivalent of Superman being an employee in a Kryptonite mining facility. However, it turns out that the striker was actually telling the truth, with him being spotted the next day sporting sores across his face and body.

“Not Today, Mario”

Clearly Balotelli was unhappy with Samuel Eto’o taking the penalty against Palermo, seemingly throwing his toys out of his pram and refusing to move from the penalty spot. This initiated a frankly absurd exchange between him and Zanetti, who escorts the confused striker away by his hand like a child being led through a supermarket.

Car Crash

Two weeks following his signing to Manchester City, Balotelli crashed his Audi R8 near the training ground. Police arrived on the scene and questioned him, breathalysed him and searched him, finding £5,000 in his back pocket. When they asked why he had such a large amount of money in his pocket, Balotelli replied simply: “because I am rich”.

That Backheel

There is Balotelli the £100,000-a-week football star; there is Balotelli the comedian; but without a shadow of a doubt, my favourite Balotelli has to be Balotelli the man-child.

After Man City breaks through LA Galaxy’s defence and are through on goal, Super Mario decides it would be an opportunity time to show a little bit of flair and backheel the ball into the open net. Unfortunately his idea does not go to plan, and he is promptly substituted before throwing his bottle of water onto the pitch, folding his arms and sulking.

Mario Goes Shopping

After his mum asked him to travel to John Lewis to fetch her a vacuum cleaner, Balotelli returned home with a van trailing behind him, which contained a trampoline and two vespa scooters. No vacuum though, unfortunately.

1. Mario Bib-otelli – it doesn’t need any words just watch

Hopefully, Mario will learn, and he will not become another of the endless list of footballers unable to handle his fame like Georgie Best and Diego Maradonna, to name just a couple.

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger will be hoping his side can avenge the 8-2 hammering they received at Old Trafford last August as they go head to head with Manchester United this afternoon.

The newest chapter in the longest running managerial rivalry in Premier League history will be written as Fergie and Wenger enter their 47th bout, with United needing a win to keep pace with league leaders Manchester City.

The Gunners come into the game off the back of two successive league defeats which has left them five points away from the Champions League places and with Liverpool and Newcastle snapping at their heels.

An old school vibe could be added to the occasion if Paul Scholes and Thierry Henry line up against each other once again, though the Frenchman has picked up a calf injury which could keep him out of the action.

With United facing Chelsea, Tottenham and Liverpool twice in the next six weeks, Alex Ferguson has admitted that the game against Arsenal begins a defining period of their season.

‘You want to get into these games in good form,’ Ferguson said. ‘Hopefully we can navigate this clutch of games because they will be important for where we end up this season.’

Come on you devils!!

Result: Arsenal 1 – 2 Man Utd

Looking for a way to waste some time this morning on Facebook?

Here’s a new bug circling around the Internet that you can try out.

If you post random numbers into the sequence @[XXX:Y] or @[XXXX:Y] as a comment or status update, a name will appear when you press enter. Just watch:

Here, I typed in “@[949:0]” as a comment:

Pressed enter and voila, Anna Redmond appeared:

I should clarify, I don’t have a Facebook friend named Anna Redmond, probably explaining why actual tags do not appear for these two presumed Facebook users. I also tried inserting longer strings of numbers and the output when I pressed enter was a number zero, dispelling the possibility that every Facebook user has an abbreviated number sequence associated with their name.

I also tested inserting profile ID numbers (the sequence at the end of non-vanity URLs), which resulted in a traditional name tag.

I have reached out to Facebook for an explanation as I am interested to finding out why this is happening, and will update this post if they can sort this one out.

Here’s the real question: What do you think these short codes mean?

Some loopy rumors are saying they give your phone number or area code a name — that’s obviously nonsensical.

Let me know what you hypothesize in the comments.

Of course, Google isn’t missing out on the opportunity to get its social network in on a little bit of the action. Google+ users will be able to hang out with Beckham immediately after the interview, at 10:30am PT. If you want to keep tabs on Beckham on Google+ before the hangout, check out his profile here.

Google+ Hangouts have been used by everyone from celeb singers like Will.I.Am to the Dalai Lama and Archbishop Desmond Tutu. Google is clearly hard at work, bringing in as many celebrities into the Plus fold as possible, with each newsworthy hangout taking the social network one step closer to its mainstream status.

It seems that every handset OEM these days puts together a longer clip for each of their new handsets. The video ad is too long for a TV spot, so it’s later cut and shipped to channels if it is to make onto that medium. But on YouTube, why not stretch out?

Nokia has recently released its two ads for the Lumia 900 and 710 phones, and even with the extra time, they are quite boring. Instead of hitting hard on what makes the two handsets unique, the videos drone on with hard-hitting copy such as “Polycarbonate Unibody – Built for better reception.” Stop the presses. But best of all the stilted commentary had to be “Add a Purity by Monster headset.” Ok, thanks.

We’re going to share them both here in the interest of, well, we don’t know, honesty and openness, but we doubt you’ll make it through both of them in one piece.

Now, Nokia has a rather compelling line of handsets, and the Lumia collection of phones has been consistently met with plaudits around the world. How Nokia managed to take that momentum, and produce the above ads, is beyond comprehension; every single great point about the phones has been made by the press, and then was promptly ignored by Nokia. Brilliant.

You can find all our coverage of the handsets here, and we promise, there aren’t any more of those ads.
